Pekin Hospital Stay: 1946

Good place to compare the inflation that was beginning in the post-war years. Cost of room had doubled since 1937. I still have no idea what either of my last two posts involved.

Pekin Hospital Bill from 1937

Height of the depression era. Notice the breakdown of costs for over 10 days in the hospital. Total bill of $49.95 will hardly get you inside the door today. I notice you paid extra for the "special nurse" meals.

Can't find anything about the Carlton Inn. Don't know the year for this menu. The address of the hotel was 1519 S. Michigan Ave., Chicago, IL   Phone CALumet 4724

Again I apologize for not having dates for either of these pictures. Bill and brother John Schurter are in the upper photo with Paul Woerner. My Uncle Vic is in the lower picture. Notice the corn was "making between 105-110 bushels to the acre."
