Custer State Park January 17, 2019

After our stop at Mt. Rushmore we decided to take the long way home and trek up Mt. Coolidge. The road up Mt. Coolidge is closed this time of year but you can hike up the road. If you do any walking you can handle the hike. The views are worth it. I also stopped along the way to get a picture of Mt. Rushmore, needed my telephoto lens.
Open the picture and you will see Mt. Rushmore in the background.

This picture and the following are from our hike up Mt. Coolidge.

From the top looking toward Rapid City which is covered with freezing fog (rime ice). Temperature dropped 16 degrees on our return.

After this hike we drove on to Custer, SD and ate lunch at Black Hills Burger & Bun Co., this is a great burger place, locally owned with wonderful food. Old time chocolate pie for dessert is a perfect ending to your meal.
